Design Challenge
Design a print publication to help the Smithsonian’s Cooper Hewitt Museum promote a collection of your choice. Curate a selection of images and do research to inform your design direction. Use Adobe InDesign to create a cohesive visual system of type, images, and messaging. Consider the narrative flow and movement throughout the publication. Be mindful of the target audience, as well as Cooper Hewitt’s brand identity.
Creative Solution
The collection I chose from the museum was “The Jazz Age: American Style In the 1920s” I sought to highlight the era’s embrace of materialism and design innovation. To showcase this, I categorized the pieces by furnishings, prints, and wardrobe. I pursued a clean and minimal layout to ensure the eclectic nature of the collection remained the publication’s focal point. To further maintain a dynamic and cohesive design, I incorporated accents of cobalt blue, a signature color of the Roaring Twenties. All typography was carefully aligned with Cooper Hewitt’s brand guidelines.
